The piracy is a crime that many people had done but they didn't really know that it was illegally. It consists in downloading archives without the copyright from different pages on the internet. You can't download music, for example from a page on the internet, if that page doesn't have the copyright of that music. It occurred the same with videos and films that you download from the internet without the copyright permission.
Many people post on the internet links for downloading of films, series, music without the copyright permission for financial gain. Kim Dotcom and his web Megaupload is a great example of piracy.
Economic contrasts in Copyright Infringement
In United States, and also in many countries, copyright infringement carries a maximum of 150.000$ of penalty per instance.In 2008 The Motion Picture Association of America reported that its six major member companies lost $6.1 billion to piracy. The BSC and IDC claim that they losses 51$ billions in 2009 because of the software piracy. According to a BSA/IDC studies, the highest piracy rate comes from Armenia, with piracy rate of 93%.
Piracy in Armenia
Level of software privacy in Armenia goes down only by 3-4% annually, not more. However, the situation will remain complicated until government itself purchases licensed software, representative of Business Soft Alliance Narine Mkrtchyan told journalists today.
“To date piracy level reaches 90%, including government, business circles and public sector,” said Mkrtchyan.
